Carbon fiber instruments have been available for a number of years, but until now, they have mostly been in a price point that is higher than a normal student instrument. Glasser's new Carbon Fiber violin is a solid jump into the student market, with a surprisingly interesting sound. Set up with a high quality bridge, Wittner tailpiece, Planetary Pegs (for easy tuning!), and Larsen strings, this unique instrument plays and functions effortlessly. It produces a warm and very even tone quality that is pleasant under the ear.
It goes without saying that the benefits of a carbon fiber instrument are that the upkeep and wear on the instrument is very low, being as it does not have a sensitive varnish to look after and doesn't fluctuate the way a wooden instrument does. It is a bit heavier than most hand-carved instruments that we have seen.
If you are concerned that your child may not yet me ready to handle the responsibility of a wooden instrument; or you are doing a lot of outdoor playing - this instrument should be on your radar to consider. Price does not include a case or a bow.
