The Antonio Stradivarius "B-Model" is perhaps one of the most copied and emulated in the 300 years since Antonio Stradivari first introduced it. Bernd Dimbath's "Strad" model is one that incorporates the spirit and craftsmanship that Stradivari made famous so many years ago.
Because the Strad pattern is so prevalent in today's conservatories, symphonies and indeed middle schools, it is a toneworld which is easily recognizeable as the "modern" cello. That being said, this particular cello stands out from most small bodied cellos I have encountered - It has the depth of some of the largest patterns cellos, tightly wound into a focus that is all Stradivari! Even across all the strings, it is immensely rich, powerful, and extremely satisfying as a cellist to play.
It is set up with Bois d'Harmonie fittings, and finished with a pleasing brown varnish over a golden ground.
information about the model from Bernd Dimbath:
One of Germany's premier violin workshops, the Bernd Dimbath Workshop in Bubenreuth, produces a very large range of products from their student level Heinrich Gill lines, to their professional models with the Bernd Dimbath label. In our opinion, what really makes the Bernd Dimbath label instruments standout from other high end European workshops is the level of detail and consistency in their work. Everything from the initial stages of wood selection to the scientific measurements involved with pairing optimal woods together with a truly one-of-a-kind instrument. Even such internal work as the bass bar is shaped uniquely to each instrument to enhance its tonal qualities, not just a standard shape which is quite commonly done. We are confident and proud to offer these fine instruments in our shop as a great option for the most demanding advanced students or professional musician!
