Lets face it, everyone is intrigued by super light-weight carbon fiber tailpieces! In the shop, we use a wide variety of tailpieces by different manufacturers because every cello is unique and needs fittings to match its characteristics (and that of the musicians wish). That being said, super light tailpieces are intriguing products, worthy of investigation and use!
On that front, I am excited that we are now able to offer affordable carbon fiber tailpieces made by George Schegolsky (ConCarbo), as they provide another unique and very useful option for customers looking to optimize their cello's setup. Prices for cello tailpieces start from $150 with no fine tuners - also each tailpiece does include a kevlar tailgut.
ConCarbo produces many different varieties of tailpieces (Shiny, Matte, Harp, Unidirectional, etc etc), many of which we carry, Please reach out to use, to find out which models we currently have in stock.
Lastly, I would point out, that like any tailpiece, having it installed professionally is very important - improper afterlength, and subsequent soundpost adjustments are necessary to get the most from any new tailpiece. If you are a local customer, we do offer this service for a reasonable fee. If you are not-local, we would highly recommend you reach out to a reputable luthier to help you properly install your new tailpiece!
