Heinrich Gill is a German workshop, based in Bubenreuth. While they make violin, violas and cellos, it is my opinion that their cellos really shine, particularly their top of the line X-7 model. Of course, they spare no expense in using the most choice and aged materials, as you would expect at this price point. What is unique is how they use acoustic analysis technology to balance both the tops and backs of the instruments; in essence they form what they believe is perfect harmony between the materials and the craftsmanship.
Regardless of the technical details, we are happy to be offering this powerful and brilliant cello. It is based on a slightly wide Goffriller pattern cello (but not overly large, in my opinion). We are selling this cello at a slight discount because upon arrival from the distributor, we noticed a small 2inch crack in the lower bout rib (which has since been repaired). This slight damage has no effect on the sound.
This instrument is suitable for all levels of playing.
